The Ocean Course at Hōkūala
A new semester of the Ocean Course’s 6-week golf program begins September 11th.
Looking for an introduction to golf that produces real results, and more importantly, a love for the game? The Operation 36 program is nationally accredited as the most effective developmental program and technology to introduce and guide anyone in playing the game of golf. This trusted program, combined with our highly trained golf professionals and award-winning Jack Nicklaus Signature course, promises to provide a memorable experience for the golf-curious of any age. Operation 36 at the Ocean Course has seen great success guiding new golfers on their path to long and short-term goals on the course and looks forward to welcoming new players to the game this fall.
Operation 36 Program
- Golfers play 9 holes from Division 1 (25 yards)
- In layman’s terms, this means you will play 9 holes starting 25 yards from each green.
- Shoot par (36) or better to pass a Divison
- Players are challenged, with the help of their coaches, to shoot 36! If you shoot par or better, you will progress to Division 2, and start 50 yards from each green your next round.
- Track progress and complete as many Divisions as possible
- All progress is tracked in the Operations 36 mobile app. This challenge continues until the golfer can shoot par from all 10 divisions.
The 6-week program includes meeting for an hour each week and building 12 skills. There will be three- 9 hole events on a Tuesday or Saturday (9/19, 10/3 or 9/23, 10/7) and an awards potluck after completing the program on Saturday, October 21st.
Upcoming Dates and Details
The next semester begins September 11, 2023, and runs through October 21st. Classes are available for both adults and juniors and the total cost includes professional golf instruction, green fees, and tournament setup. About Hōkūala Golf Adventures
Operation 36 is an initiative in the Hōkūala Teaching Program, which is a destination in its own right with training sessions from renowned PGA instructors equipped with innovative training technology.
Practice makes progress. Patient, practiced, and engaging, the Hōkūala team—directed by PGA Professional Kellie Hines along with her team of professionals Cort Walter and Juan Gonzalez — will help increase your skill and lower your handicap.
A lifelong resident of Kauaʻi, Kelly Hines was the first woman to serve on the state’s PGA Board and previously coached Hawai‘i’s championship high school girls’ team. The Ocean Course at Hōkūala’s team of professionals is dedicated and trained to help you discover your best game.
